Essential Haircare: A Journey of Sustainability

The evolution of the iconic Essential Haircare line has been one of the most important innovations by Davines. It's a symbol of their commitment to pursuing the never-ending goal of increasing sustainability while pushing the boundaries of exceptional professional haircare results.

A journey that started in 2004

It has been over 20 years since Davines first introduced Essential Haircare to the world. Since then, there have been several innovations that have helped them to make the range more sustainable and effective.

From introducing new formulations featuring active ingredients from Slow Food Presidia in 2014, to bio-based plastic bottles in 2014 and solid shampoo formats in 2020, each step has been a renewal of our ongoing efforts to attain greater levels of sustainability.

What has changed in the latest evolution?

While the vision of the Essential Haircare line remains the same - to reflect that which is both beautiful and good - they have taken a revolutionary approach to everything else in an effort to create something even better for hair and for the planet.

  • The Next Generation of Haircare

Starting with the core formulation that underpins every product, they revisited the original structure and created something new, then enhanced it with Regenerative Organic Certified™ active ingredients for their unique effectiveness.

  • Increased naturality and biogradability

Removing silicones, acrylates and synthetic surfactants, we have replaced them with naturally derived ingredients and high-performance biopolymers.

Products now feature an average of 93% ingredients of natural origin.

  • Innovative packaging

Following eco-design principles and a circular approach, we have completely redesigned the packaging and have also introduced Bio-Circular Mass-Balance plastic, which reduces the use of fossil materials and helps to lower CO emissions.
